چکیده

In biodiesel production processes using supercritical methanol, the phase equilibria for methanol + fatty acid methyl ester systems near the critical temperature of methanol (Tc = 512.6 K) are required as the fundamental data. A flow type method was applied to measure the vapor-liquid equilibria for methanol + fatty acid methyl ester binary systems at 493 – 543 K. The phase behavior was studied by changing the kind of fatty acid methyl esters. The mole fractions of methanol in vapor phase are close to unity for the systems. The present vapor-liquid equilibrium data were correlated by Peng-Robinson Stryjek-Vera equation of state with a modified conventional mixing rule. Inter-molecular parameters in the mixing rule were determined by fitting to the present experimental data obtained in this work. The correlated results are in good agreement with the experimental data.

Phase equilibria description of biodiesels with water and alcohols for the optimal design of the production and purification process

The water solubility in fatty acid esters and biodiesels and the vapor–liquid equilibria (VLE) of fatty acid ester + methanol/ethanol systems, formed at biodiesel production and purification industrial units, were modeled in this work to complete the development and application of the soft-SAFT equation of state (EoS) to the design and optimization of biodiesel production plants. The soft-SAFT ...

New Local Composition-Equation of State Mixing Rules for High Pressure Vapor-Liquid Equilibria Using EOS/AE

In this study using Equation of State/ Helmholtz excess energy function,  EOS/AE, two new local composition-Equation-of State mixing rules, LCEOS1 and LCEOS2 were developed in which the energy interaction parameters were expressed in terms of attractive and repulsive parameters of the cubic equation of state. The EOS/AE models are applied for equilibrium calculation of nat...

Liquid - Liquid Equilibrium of (Methylcyclohexane + Methanol + Ethyl Benzene): Experimental Data and UNIQUAC Model

The determination region of solubility of methanol with gasoline of high aromatic content was investigated experimentally at temperature of 288.2 K. A type 1 liquid-liquid phase diagram was obtained for this ternary system. These results were correlated simultaneously by the UNIQUAC model. The values of the interaction parameters between each pair of components in the system were obtained f...
